There are several all-year-around dog friendly beaches near Home Farm Holiday Cottages.
Just a few miles from our holiday cottages at the foot of the Mendips, you can reach many dog friendly beaches/flats that are open all year.
Miles and miles of wide sand lats for your dogs to range.
Brean Beach
Just two miles down the coast from Weston-super-Mare. One of the longest stretches of sand in Europe, and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats are exposed. (Don’t walk out too far at low tide as the water comes in quickly and also mud flats can catch you out). The beach is popular with dog walkers and beach sport enthusiasts.
Car parks and toilets and drinking water available
At one end of the beach is Brean Down that stretches out into the severn estuary. Well worth the walk to the 19th century fort at the end (Napoleonic wars), and enjoy views back towards Weston and across to Wales.
At the foot of Brean Down (which is also a great place to walk with dogs) is a snack shop and ice cream and parking.
Uphill (Weston Super Mare).
Situated at the southern end of Weston-super-Mare’s lengthy stretch of beach, Uphill is a world apart from the hustle and bustle of the the seaside resort.
The River Axe flows out to sea here.
The beach walk leads to Uphill Local Nature Reserve. As well as an abundance of wildlife there is also a tower on top of the hill which offers great views. There is also a viewing area across some marshes for bird watching.
Berrow
For those looking for a longer walk you can walk the length of Brean Sands above (around 5 miles), and then move on to the beaches around Berrow, that finish at Burnham on Sea, where you can find some well earnt refreshments along the sea front. Or park at Burnham-on-sea and walk back thru the North and South beaches of Berrow.
Sand Bay
To the north of Weston Super mare is Sand Bay. Also open all year around, this quiet stretch of beach offers some more areas for dogs to stretch their legs. There is often an ice cream van at the far end of the Bay.
